ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- Drew Gordon had 18 points and nine rebounds Saturday as New Mexico won its 10th game in a row, beating Saint Louis 64-60.
Brian Conklin had 20 points and nine rebounds for the Billikens (12-2), whose six-game winning streak came to an end.
Saint Louis moved out to a 21-14 lead before the Lobos (12-2) came storming back on a 12-2 run that was fueled by five consecutive trips to the foul line, generating the first eight of the points in that run. New Mexico led 31-29 at halftime.
The game was tied eight times, the last coming with 7:10 left when New Mexico's Phillip McDonald hit his only basket, a 3-pointer that put the Lobos ahead for good at 48-45.
The Billikens did have a final chance to draw even in the closing seconds after Cody Ellis went to the foul line for three shots. He made the first two to cut New Mexico's lead to 62-60 but Ellis' final attempt came off the front of the rim.
Gordon grabbed it momentarily, but the Billikens' Jordair Jett ripped it free and put up an off-balance, turn-around shot from the lane that bounced off the back of the rim. Gordon finished off the scoring with a pair of foul shots with 1.2 seconds left.
The Billikens' defense, ranked fifth in the country, stymied the Lobos' normally potent outside game, limiting them to just 2 for 7 from 3-point range, both season lows. The Lobos' previous season low for 3-point attempts was 15 and the fewest successful long-distance shots had been three.
